Why the long face?
I was riding the Q train this morning. It seems that all my light skinned brethren look like they were in despair. From Newkirk to Cortelyou and beverley and even the prospect park stop. So I was very perplex as to why all my progenitors of scintillant coating was so much in despair. I mean I haven't seen so many white people in despair since the backstreet street boys broke up. Then at work I read this news story and it all made sense. It seems that Starbucks will stop selling Organic Milk *Gasp* What will Becca, Chad and Lori do to get their daily fix of Organic milk? This should be the number 1 story at the Ditmas Park blog. Maybe Vox Pop can tap into this. Have a protest. Get the Megaphones out!! We should have a commission to investigate the mitigating impudence of starbucks. It's bad enough that the nation is about to be in a recession, Global warming is on its way, there is threat of nuclear weapons being sold to rough nations. But This is TOO MUCH! How could Starbucks STOP SELLING ORGANIC MILK? The Humanity!!

What is scintillant coating? Who are Becca, Chad and Lori? What are you so angry about?
Awwwgee, and Saturday's Wall Street Journal had a front page article on Kellog's co. killing off the mfg of the Hydrox cookies....
What's a besieged white person to do?
no cookies, no milk
Since when have you been reading the Wall Street Journal?
Where's the Starbucks along the Q? Maybe your co-riders were worried about paying rent - not everyone is as fortunate as you, living with mommy and all...
Thanks for the humor. Maybe this is what our dialog about race needs. One question though, what would happen if a white blogger made a joke about a kennedy's fried chicken's going bankrupt? And then said that's probably why all the dark skinned folks on the train looked so glum? Would there be a difference between your post and theirs? Maybe we should all be laughing at ourselves and each other and not take ourselves so seriously. Again maybe this kind of ribbing is just what our dialog about race needs? Any thoughts?
5:35 AM FYI I don't live at home, try to read more carefully. Don't take things so literally.
9:25 AM I can't be Sistah Soldier(ed)
9:25AM You make a great point if ALL THINGS WERE EQUAL btw
All things are equal.
You know if you saw a blog about Shaniqua and Tyrone being sad that their nail salon was closing you'd be all over that. This is total BS.
agreed
Why is this blog so offensive? The constant references to your "light skinned brethren" is not conducive to the word brethren. What would Dr. King the right reverend say?
It's funny that a post that was clearly a satire gets more responses than the post about that real estate racial steering. You people need to get a life.
7:55pm You know if a white blogger lived in a neighborhood where all these newspaper articles and black blogs were trying to
1.marginalize white people.
2. Say that you need black people to move in to get better services.
3. That black people are some how desirable in order to gentrify.
4. And most of the new comers were black.
5. Most of the bloggers were black and thought of themselves as pioneers.
6. Most of theses black blogs had an extreme obsession with making over a neighborhood that this white blogger always held dear.
Then I guess yes. A white blogger would have a right to say something like that...With all things being equal.
The long faces were over the rising gentrification that effects the whites living in the neighborhood.
7:55 here.
I have no desire to change the neighborhood. Furthermore, I don't consider myself a pioneer. I just want to live somewhere affordable and live life the best I can.
I didn't move here with the goal of making your life worse - I moved here with the goal of improving mine.
Sometimes when I read your blog, I get the impression that you think white people living in Flatbush spend their days greedily rubbing their hands together concocting ways to whitewash the things you like and take advantage of the black people who live here. It ain't the case, my friend.
Lastly - you may be interested to know I have never had organic milk.
I'm certainly never up on slang, so here is a feeble attempt to understand- what is "Sistah Soldier?"
7:55 - you may not know it, but you are the worst kind of racist-- you do too want to change the neighborhood-- you aren't even honest enough to cop to it-- try calling me 'Tyrone' to my face
Last (not "lastly," pretentious fool) -- no one cares what you drink OR what you think --> go back to Queens
I'm a new resident of Flatbush and white. I lived here 7 years ago, moved to Ft Greene, and came back because I could afford to buy here with my new wife. I commend you for your honesty and see that you have writing ability, but would like to suggest that you get more flies with honey. Your points are valid, but just a bit past the edge from legitimate protest that can change minds to the rant of an angry man using anonymity to hide like a coward. If you support Obama like the blog suggests, you better get used to compromise. You're on the verge of being an influential man, make the right choices for all of us please.
Have you ever been IN a Starbucks? The ones at 71st & Broadway, and 75th & Broadway, in Manhattan, for example, get plenty of black folks in there, and not just "buppies" (and any time there's a Tyler Perry show at the Beacon...both places are packed with black clientele.) And the last time I walked by the Starbucks at the Junction, there wasn't one white face in there.
Who knows where to download XRumer 5.0 Palladium?
