Interracial Dating on Flatbush

I’ve dated many women of different backgrounds. I’ve dated Black, White, Asian and Hispanic women. I usually get different reactions from people depending one who I’m with on a date. If I go out on Flatbush with a Black girl, we don’t get any reaction at all. But if I go out with a girl of a different race, there is reaction. The reactions are mostly based on whomever I’m with. If I’m with a White Girl I get certain reactions from certain people. Younger Black Girls give me a piecing look. Younger white girls on the other hand usually give that curious look. As if to say hmm I wonder what he’s got going for himself. Older white men and some younger white guys always have that surprise look on their face. But only with a very good looking Asian or White girls. I never get looks from Asian girls unless I’m on a date with an Asian Girl. I only get looks from white girls if I’m on a date with a girl that is not black. I get more looks from all girls if my date is of a different race. Most people on Flatbush will give that a look, but try to catch themselves. The Asians, Black and White girls that I’ve dated are usually stunning looking. It might be because of their looks. I doubt it because I don’t get those same looks when I’m with a Black Girl or even a Hispanic or Indian Girl. It has never gotten nasty though. Even if it did, it’s my life. For whatever reason these looks never bother me. I’m usually more focus on the date and figuring out how to get her to want to jump my bones. Worrying about what people think is the last thing on my mind. Has anyone had any of these experiences on Flatbush? I can imagine from the looks of it that PLG and even Ditmas Park would be a haven for Interracial couples.

I guess things have changed in brooklyn with respect to interracial dating: About 20 years ago, I brought my white girlfriend (I'm black) to my mother's house in East Flatbush. Walking down Linden Blvd, we received many hateful looks from the black residents of the neighborhood. I even had a ball thrown at my back. Things were much cooler for us living in the East Village. While I now reside on the west coast, you appear to have inherited a more tolerant borough.

There has been a lot of talk about race, gentrification and shades of pigment on this blog and I think that is all to the good. The neighborhood is changing and an open discussion is warranted.
However…
This post is really not about inter-racial dating this is flat out bragging.
This blogger wants us to know that women of all colors flock to him. He has the choice of every woman in the hood.
Hmmm…
Well it’s his blog and his opportunity to blow (inflate?) his own horn.
Maybe taking all this with a grain of salt is in order.

One important fact I've learned is this: mind-reading is nearly impossible.

You have virtually no idea what thoughts are passing through someone's head when you pass them on the street. However, I admit that guys will look at good-looking women under any circumstances.

There are very few people around who truly disapprove of interracial dating. But based on your comments, I'd say you're the one who's uncomfortable with the social implications of interracial dating.

Meanwhile, the dating part is meaningless. None of it matters until marriage and children come into the picture.

Full disclosure, I’m a white guy who loves the ladies.
Our elders braved the prejudices of the times and loved and married whom they chose. This did two things, it paved the way for a more relaxed attitude towards inter-racial dating but more importantly it has produced some of the most beautiful people in the world.
Flatbush has an amazing array of mixed race women that has had the effect of turning me into a quivering puddle of nerves.
The few times I’ve had the nerve to step up to the plate I have not only been rewarded by the company of a beautiful woman but meeting a family that is welcoming and warm.
Well…
Not all the fathers were so welcoming but I don’t think my color was as much a factor as their protective reflexives. And who could blame them?
If I were them I wouldn’t trust me. ;-)

If you focused a bit more on the chick you are with you might slow that revolving door! Just kidding.

"I can imagine from the looks of it that PLG...would be a haven for Interracial couples"

Nothing new here--that's been the case since long before I moved here in 1974.

Well, so much for you're being unpretentious and speaking for the long-term residents of the community. You pretty much killed that with this bragging about your rainbow-banging adventures.

Anyway, if you were REALLY interested in having thought-provoking discussions about tolerance in the community, talk about Same-sex couples in Flatbush, which I'm starting to see now. Now THAT would be a real reflection of tolerance and change in the community.

Also something that's been commomplace here for MANY years [at least in PLG].

Some old white people stare because when they see an interracial couple or a same-sex couple, it makes them feel good that we live in a better time than the the one they grew up in.

Sometimes it is so that certain people have a particular interest in dating people of other race or nationality. They can do so through a variety of free and easy to access Interracial dating sites.
This the exact case with flat bush and other people in the United States, today more and more people dating across race lines it is more easily accepted.

Dating is not about finding the right person, but creating a right relationship. It's not about how much love you have in the beginning but how much love you build till the end. Which ever race does they belong.
