NYPD Caught red handed
For everyone living in Flatbush, you have a new tool to police the police. Apparently an NYPD detective was outsmart by a teen who recorded his interrogation. This detective lied on the witness stand. Had it not been for an MP3, he would have gotten away with it. Is this the type of service we should expect from New York's Finest? Read the story here.

Shouldn't this post be directed toward every CRIMINAL living in Flatbush? Why does this post overlook the fact that the suspect who recorded the detective accepted pled guilty and accepted 7 years in the slammer as a result of this incident? Let's not excuse the detective, but let's also not lose perspective.
The kid who recorded the detective is a criminal. The detective was interrogating the kid without telling the kid he had the right to request the presence of an attorney. Tsk, tsk.
The kid, a criminal, confessed.
However, we live in a surreal world where it is a crime for cops to ask criminals to confess, and an added crime if the criminals respond by confessing.
I agree with both of you.
If the kid accepted a 7 year prison sentence, then there's a good chance that he's heard his Miranda rights before.
It would be highly unlikely (yet not impossible) due to the fact that his punishment was so severe and he had the presence of mind to record the officer that this was his first run in with the law.
